JPG and PNG to WebP
Photos and graphics can become smaller as WebP, but size savings are not guaranteed for every file.
Transparency
PNG and WebP alpha channels are preserved. JPEG sources remain opaque.
Quality presets
High (0.90), Balanced (0.82, default), and Small (0.70). Canvas WebP here is lossy — not lossless.
File size
WebP often reduces size versus JPEG/PNG, but sometimes the output is larger. That is not treated as an error.
Privacy
Conversion runs on your device. Analytics never include filenames, sizes, quality, or alpha state.
EXIF and metadata
Browsers apply JPEG EXIF orientation when decoding. Canvas redraw may drop EXIF and other metadata — not a sanitizer guarantee.
