Supported directions

Markdown → HTML produces sanitized markup for preview and copy. HTML → Plain Text extracts visible text only. This tool does not convert HTML back to Markdown.

Supported Markdown

Headings, bold, italic, links, ordered and unordered lists, blockquotes, inline code, fenced code blocks, horizontal rules, and paragraphs. Tables may appear when the parser emits them and the sanitizer allows them.

Sanitized preview and XSS safety

Parser output always passes through DOMPurify with an allowlist. Raw HTML inside Markdown is not rendered as active HTML. Scripts, iframes, event handlers, and dangerous URL schemes are blocked.

HTML to plain text

HTML is parsed in a detached document. Script, style, noscript, and template nodes are removed before text extraction. Whitespace is normalized for readability; extraction is practical, not semantically perfect.

Privacy

Conversion runs on your device. Analytics never include Markdown, HTML, plain text, snippets, tags, URLs, or hashes.

Limits

A soft limit around 500,000 code points keeps the UI responsive. Inputs beyond about 1,000,000 code points show a safety message with no server fallback.

  • Copy sanitized HTML fragments for CMS or email drafts.
  • Strip markup from HTML snippets to keep visible wording only.

Is my content uploaded?
No. Parsing and sanitizing run entirely in your browser.
Can I convert HTML to Markdown?
Not in this MVP. Use Markdown → HTML or HTML → Plain Text.
Is the preview safe against XSS?
Preview uses sanitized HTML only. Scripts and dangerous attributes/protocols are removed.
What happens to raw HTML in Markdown?
Raw HTML tokens are not rendered as HTML and remaining markup is sanitized before preview or copy.
Does HTML → text keep script contents?
No. Script and style nodes are removed before text extraction.
