What this calculator estimates

Global Trade Profit Navigator turns your unit cost, logistics fees, user-entered duty/VAT rates, and selling fees into landed cost and contribution profit. It is a scenario worksheet for importers and cross-border sellers.

Why landed cost matters before you price

List price that ignores duty, non-recoverable VAT, brokerage, and marketplace fees can look profitable until the shipment clears. A single scenario helps you compare routes and fee stacks before you commit inventory.

Phase A method (user-entered rates)

Phase A does not call a live tariff API. You supply duty and VAT percentages. The engine then applies a transparent CIF-style customs base and contribution model.

  • Goods value = unit cost × quantity
  • Customs value = goods value + freight + insurance
  • Duty = customs value × duty rate; VAT = (customs value + duty) × VAT rate
  • Landed cost = goods + freight + insurance + duty + non-recoverable VAT + domestic freight + brokerage + handling + other import costs
  • Contribution profit = revenue − landed cost − marketplace/payment/return fees − fulfilment − ads − other selling costs

Limits and disclaimers

HS classification, preferential origin, de minimis, anti-dumping, valuation adjustments, and VAT reclaim eligibility are outside Phase A. Confirm rates with a licensed customs broker or tax adviser before decisions.

FAQ

Does this tool look up the correct duty for my product?

No. Phase A uses the duty and VAT percentages you enter. Country and HS-code rules vary; verify them elsewhere.

Is VAT always recoverable?

Not always. Enter the recoverable share you expect (0–100%). Non-recoverable VAT stays in landed cost.

Are the results accounting or tax advice?

No. Outputs are directional planning estimates from your inputs only.

Can I share a scenario with a teammate?

Will official tariff data be added later?

The data model already separates user_input from future official_reference sources. Phase A keeps everything user-entered.
